Lourdes Gomez of Monte Vista Christian School has received the 2014 Ken Brosius Memorial Scholarship from The Gold Standard Barbershop Chorus. Each year an outstanding and musical high school senior with experience singing in a quartet is awarded the the scholarship. During her time at MVC, Lourdes studied Voice Pedagogy, Vocal Techniques, Piano, and Choir. She was also section leader and member of the Girl’s Quartet featured at the Sing For Your Life concert. In the fall, she will be attending Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University with the intention of preparing for a career in Music Theory and Composition. Lourdes is the most recent MVC graduate to receive the scholarship since it was created in 2007; other recipients were Todd Scalisi in 2008, Christian Purcell in 2009, Serena Buie in 2010, and Jack Wilkins in 2012.
